GVC sat down to lunch last week with former Vibe Brand Manager, and current Brand Manager for GMC's Envoy SUV, Craig Bierley. One of the topics that came up was an optional supercharger for the 1.8-liter VVTL-i engine. Here is what Bierley had to say.

Currently, Pontiac is in talks with Toyota's TRD (Toyota Racing Development) division to offer the same supercharger planned for the Vibe's twin, the Toyota Matrix. However, no date was given for when these discussions might be finalized or when you can expect to purchase a supercharger at your Pontiac dealer.

If Pontiac does finalize a deal for the rights to resell TRD's supercharger as GM SPO (Service Parts Organization) hardware, we expect it to follow the same installation path as past TRD performance accessories. Either a dealer could bolt it on at the time of purchase or a reasonably able 'do-it-yourselfer' could do it on their own in a few hours.

The price point for a Vibe supercharger would probably be $2000+ based on the prices of other TRD superchargers. Estimated horsepower would be around 220hp.
