Michigan
Rally Recap
The 2005
GenVibe Michigan Rally was once again a smashing success!
In its
third year, the Michigan Rally was held once again at Joseph
Pontiac in Fenton, Michigan on Saturday, June 25th, 2005. Unlike
the 70F degree temperatures last year, participants were greeted by
the full force of this summer's near 100F degree heat, under sunny
skies.
This
year, GM brought out the Vibe GT-R concept vehicle for display during
the rally. Pictures of this Vibe can be seen in the Michigan Rally
Photo Gallery link at the right of this article. We were greeted by
a representative of Pontiac's Marketing team who mingled and enjoyed
the sights and sounds of the rally. GM's overall representation was
minimal this year, due in large part to several position changes within
GM that led to too many last minute cancellations from our regular
GM participants. We hope to coordinate another great group of reps
for next year's event.
In total,
we estimated around 50 people and around 35 Vibes (and a handful of
Matrix) in attendance. This total number is on par to the past 2 Michigan
rallies. There was also a good handful of out-of-state members joining
the group this year as well.
To most,
it was great to once again meet the familiar faces from the site as
well as those new to the rally scene. The scorching temperatures did
not hinder the excitement and fun everyone was having during the day.
We were even treated to a few mods performed on site; in particular
a headliner removal project to run a GPS antenna, carbon fiber hood
swap, and cold air intake installation. See the pictures for some
live action shots of these mods taking place.
After
the main event, many participants drove down to the Penalty Box restaurant
to enjoy the welcomed cool air and also to grab some food and drinks.
GenVibe
would like to once again thank GM, Joseph Pontiac, and the GenVibe
members who made this event possible. It was once again a great event!
Ohio
Rally Recap
As with
the Michigan rally, the 2005 GenVibe Ohio Rally was a smashing success!
Also
in its third year, the Ohio Rally was held once again at Dan
Tobin Pontiac in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, August 13th, 2005.
Participants were greeted with another round of scorching temperatures,
nearing 100F, and partly cloudy skies.
In total,
we estimated around 30 people and around 25 Vibes in attendance. A
large chunk of these Vibes were from out-of-state, which goes to show
the dedication of their owners and willingness to participate in these
events.
Dan Tobin
Pontiac, in addition to providing the location and facilities, also
provided a fully catered lunch from the local Fuddrucker's restaurant
and a huge cooler stocked with ice-cold drinks (desperately needed
to keep cool from the scorching heat). Dan Tobin also setup a large
tent on the grass which helped keep everyone cool.
We also
want to thank GVC member "tnpartsguy" for supplying the
GM accessories to use in our raffle drawing held during the event.
We were also treated to the spectacular exterior and interior graphics
sported by GVC member "george". You can see photos of his
Vibe in the Ohio Rally Photo Gallery (link at right).
After
the rally, many participants drove to the nearby Applebee's restaurant
to relax, cool down, and grab a bite to eat.
GenVibe
would like to once again thank Dan Tobin Pontiac and the GenVibe members
who made this event possible. We all had a great time!
