After what seemed like an eternity to arrive this year, the 2004 GenVibe Michigan Super Rally came and went with such success and enthusiasm, it left many the desire to keep the rally season in high gear.

This event, in its second year, was held once again at Joseph Pontiac in Fenton, Michigan on Saturday, June 26th, 2004. The weather for the event was excellent, sporting mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70s.

While last year's event included visits from various GM reps and two Supercharged Vibes, this year brought that AND so much more! In short, we were honored with the presence of numerous GM reps (from Accessories, Marketing, Brand Quality, and more) plus a large handful of reps from the NUMMI (New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc.) plant (which builds the Vibe). GM also brought out two of their concept show Vibes for display, the Autocross and GXP.

The abundance of GM and NUMMI reps were greeted by the large turnout of Vibes, their owners, family and friends. In total, we estimated around 60 people and around 40 Vibes (and 1 Matrix) in attendance. This number is significantly higher than last year's turnout all due to the high interest and intensive planning that went into this year's event.

To many in attendance, there was a large group of familiar faces from previous events, as well as the pleasure of meeting many new members and checking out their vehicles. The main goal of these rallies is to bring out as many Vibe enthusiasts as possible to socialize, discuss modifications, and have a great time.

As last year, we were also greeted by the presence of having Jeff Strausser, Vibe Brand Quality Manager, on site during the event. New this year, Jeff had coordinated the opening of Joseph Pontiac's Service Department for our exclusive use to fix owner's minor problems and annoyances. Many Vibe owners took advantage of this access to have some minor problems resolved (ie. faulty cigarette lighter housing, loose window motor bolts, etc.). This proved to be extremely helpful to owners and also helped gain their further trust in GM and the Vibe.

GM also brought out the Vibe Autocross and Vibe GXP show cars. Rally participants were able to get an up-close look at these vehicles firsthand and ask questions about their modifications to GM reps on site. Both show cars sported the Vibe Supercharger, modified front and rear fascia, spectacular paint jobs, and much more. Photos of these vehicles can be seen in the Rally Photo Gallery.

Representatives from GM's Accessories and Marketing groups were also on site to answer questions and display currently available Vibe accessories. A raffle, provided by GM, was also held during the event. Vibe owners had the opportunity to win a wide variety of prizes including all-season Vibe floor mats, rear bumper protector, Pontiac t-shirts, wind breakers, CD-holders, and more. Also, keep an eye out for a new style of chrome wheel by GM available to purchase for the Vibe later this year.

Representatives from the NUMMI plant, mentioned above, were also on site to answer questions and check out the very vehicles they work with everyday. These reps specialized in the quality control aspects of the Vibe and were extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the Vibe. Many reps, from NUMMI and GM, frequent the GenVibe website and forums regularly to gain feedback and research on possible improvements to make on the Vibe. Keep your feedback and those comments rolling in on the Forums.

GenVibe would like to thank General Motors, NUMMI, Joseph Pontiac, and the GenVibe members that made this event possible. Without the combined efforts of everyone involved, we would not have had such a great rally with the desire for many more to come.
