The 2005 SEMA Show, held annually in Las Vegas, NV, has grown in
size in relation to the number of exhibitors and attendees. However,
this year, the Vibe and Matrix representation from vendors was severely
lacking when compared to the great turnout at last year's show.
Sport compact cars took heavy influence among the exhibitors this
year. Given this fact, the Vibe and Matrix were hard to find throughout
the show.
The only major Vibe and Matrix contributions came from Toyota's own
NBA-themed Matrix and two 2005 Vibes presented at the Phoenix Gold
audio booth.
The NBA Toyota Matrix was decked out complete with basketball court
flooring, basketball skin seating, NBA '06 video game on a rear mounted
LCD screen, an exterior wrapped with an NBA-themed skin, and more.
You can read the complete specs and check out the pics of the NBA
Toyota Matrix here.
If it wasn't for Phoenix Gold, the Vibe wouldn't have been present
at the show this year. Their two Vibes on display contained some extensive
audio and video work on the interior. Both Vibes also had various
exterior modifications performed to them. You can view photos of the
Phoenix Gold Vibes in the photo gallery (link at the right).
GM's theme this year consisted of their sport compacts as well as
the new Chevrolet HHR. We're hoping that next year, GM will step up
once again and present a SEMA-grade Vibe for us all. The Vibe is speculated
to incur a redesign for the 2007 model year so hopefully with that
renewed assurance, we will see some exciting changes soon.

coverage.
